How to create a treatment program
Use the Treatment Program Builder to create a patient-specific program using exercises, lessons, and reusable content from the library. This is one of the core clinician workflows in Joint Academy.
When to use this
Create a treatment program when:
- a new patient has been enrolled and is ready to begin treatment
- an existing patient needs a new or updated program
- a patient’s current program no longer matches their progress or needs
What you can do in this workflow
- create a new program
- name the program or save it as a template
- add exercises and lessons
- organize content by week
- adjust sets and reps
- remove activities
- review content before saving
How it works
The builder has two working areas:
- Left panel: the current program you are building
- Right panel: the activity library and settings
You add items from the library into the program, then adjust the structure and dosage before saving.
Step by step
- Open the patient profile.
- If the patient does not yet have a treatment program, select Create program.
- Enter a program name at the top of the builder.
- In the right panel, stay on Activity library.
- Choose either Exercises or Lessons.
- Use the search bar or filters to find relevant content.
- Select the Add button on an item to include it in the program.
- Review the added item in the left panel.
- Assign the activity to the appropriate treatment weeks.
- Adjust Sets and Reps as needed.
- Repeat this process until the program is complete.
- Use preview or detail actions if you want to review an activity before finalizing.
- Select Save program.
Tips
- Build around the patient’s current function, symptoms, and treatment stage.
- Use the week view to make sure the program progresses in a clear and logical way.
- Review sets and reps before saving so the dosage matches the patient’s level.
- Start with common activities or templates when you want a faster workflow.
Common questions or notes
Can I mix exercises and lessons in the same program?
Yes. The builder shows separate tabs for exercises and lessons, which suggests both can be included in the same program.
Can I save a reusable version?
The interface supports template naming, which suggests programs can be saved in a reusable format.
